MARCH, 2019 WORD OF THE MONTH: INDIVIDUALITY
DISCOVERING WHO YOU ARE MEANT TO BE SO YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
MAT CHAT TOPIC OF THE MONTH:
CONFIDENCE IS A SKILL WE GAIN THROUGH PRACTICE! JUST LIKE YOU PRACTICE YOUR MARTIAL ARTS MOVES TO GET BETTER, YOU SHOULD PRACTICE CONFIDENCE IN ORDER TO GET BETTER AT IT.
DEAR PARENTS AND/OR GUARDIANS:
This month we are learning about confidence. Confidence is a key skill for young children to develop. Children already have thoughts and opinions of their own; confidence is what allows them to express them. It is also essential for how they perceive their own self-worth.
HOW CAN YOU HELP??
** Model confidence for your chld.
You can do this by showing self-love and by speaking positively of yourself (note: this is not bragging or showing vanity. True confidence does not come at the expense of putting others down.)
** Ask them about their day.
Show interest in what they say, and ask follow-up questions.
** Encourgage your child to find his or her own solutions to problems.
Don't intervene and try to solve everything for them.
** Support them when they fail.
Explain to them that one failure or setback is not the end of their goals, and does not mean that they should give up. However, do make sure to acknowledge that their emotions are valid- do not simply tell them to "get ove it. "
HAVE A GREAT MONTH!!
