Our Instructors & Staff Members
Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Taekwondo and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.
Here are a few of Low Country Karate's instructors and other staff members, starting with Mrs.Geer Patrick:
Mrs.Geer Patrick (5th Degree Black Belt American Karate/ Tae Kwon Do)
Mrs. Geer Patrick is originally from Raleigh, NC. She went to Irmo High School and Francis Marion College. She has been married to her High School sweetheart Danny for 31 years. She has a 30 year old daughter Amanda and a 23 year old son Bryan. Believe it or not she is also a GIGI! She has a beautiful 10 year old Grand Daughter Jaydah. Mrs. Geer began her karate training in 1998 at Karate World in Surfside Beach, SC doing kickboxing. Soon after. Mr. Jason encouraged her to begin training for belt ranks. Soon after, she started working at Karate World. Running the front desk area, assisting in classes and running Summer camps. She earned her 1st degree Black Belt in 2003 under instructor Mr. Jason McCormick in the styles of American Karate and Tae Kwon Do. In 2007, she earned her 2nd degree Black Belt. In May of 2011 she earned her 3rd degree Black Belt. In May Of 2013, Mr. Jason McCcormick And Master Eugene Lewis Of Karate World Promoted Mrs. Geer To 4th Degree Black Belt.
In August, 2015 Mrs. Geer tested for her Master level Belt and in October, 2015 Mr. Jason promoted her to 5th Degree Master level. In 2008, Mrs Geer was inducted into the Master Eugene Lewis Z.K.K.W. Black Belt Hall of Fame.
She continues to study and train every day to be able to give her students the highest quality martial arts education.
She specializes in the martial arts for children. Her love and dedication to the martial arts and to children is truly a gift to her students.
Mrs. April Hayes (Office Manager/ Class Assistant)
Mrs. April Hayes has been with Low Country Karate since 2005. Mrs. April has been married for 22 years and has a 20 year old daughter Emily and 16 Year old son Josh. Both of her children are Black Belts in Karate. She works with enrollments, account management and scheduling. When she is not working at the front office she can always be found in the dojo helping in any way she can. We definitely couldn't do it without her!
Mr. Bryan Patrick (2nd Degree Black Belt Instructor)
Mr. Bryan Patrick began his martial arts training at the tender age of 3 under instructor Mr. Jason McCormick at Karate World in Surfside Beach, SC. In 2002, at the age of 7 he earned his Black PW Belt in American Karate and Tae Kwon Do. In 2008, Mr. Bryan earned his Jr. Black Belt. He is an awesome role model for our younger generation of students and teaches with alot of character and enthusiasm. Mr. Bryan is a 2017 graduate of Berry College with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science. He played for the Berry Vikings football program for four years. He graduated from Wando High School in 2013 and was in the National Honor Society and was on the Wando football team. He was a member of Team Quest karate demonstration team and Student Leadership Team. Mr. Bryan earned his 1st Degree Adult Black Belt in March, 2012. He Was promoted to 2nd Degree Adult Black Belt in August, 2015.
Mr. Brandon Chapman (2nd Degree Black Belt Instructor)
Mr. Brandon has been training at Low Country Karate since 2006 when he began his road to Black Belt at the age of 12. In 2009, Mr. Brandon earned his Jr. level Black Belt in the styles of American Karate and Tae Kwon Do.
He has been an exceptional leader to the younger generation of students. Mr. Brandon graduated from PCA, he is a 2016 Graduate of The College Of Charleston. Majoring in Political Science and Minoring in African American Studies.He was a member of Team Quest karate demonstration team and Student Leadership Team. Mr. Brandon earned his 1st Degree Adult Black Belt in March, 2012. On May 31st of 2014 Mr. Brandon earned his 2nd Degree Adult Black Belt. He is amazing with children of all ages and he is a huge asset to our Karate school.
Mr. Jacob Gray (3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor)
Mr. Jacob began his road to Black Belt in September, 2006 at the age of ten. Back in 2006, Mr. Jacob will tell anyone that he was one of the most shy kids ever! During his ten years doing karate classes, he has become confident and willing to help others. He is a 2014 graduate of Wando High School. He is a student of Trident Technical College. He was Flight Commander and Finance Commander in the JROTC program. He is the Team Leader for the Low Country Karate Team Quest Demonstration Team. Mr. Jacob earned his Jr. Level Black Belt on March 31st, 2012, he earned his 1st Degree Sr. Black Belt on May 31st, 2014. He earned his 2nd Degree Sr. Black Belt in May, 2016 in the styles of American Karate and Tae Kwon Do. His future plans are to continue teaching martial arts to the younger generation and his personal goal is to continue his training and wants to be a Master in Karate and for his daytime job. Mr. Jacob wants to become a firefighter! We are thrilled to have Mr. Jacob as one of our instructors!
Mr. Steve Kirk (2nd Degree Black Belt Instructor)
Mr. Steve Kirk started his martial arts training in 1992. He received his Black Belt in American SAMBO (also SOMBO or CAMBO) in 1995 at Millersville University while the art was still fairly new in the United States. SAMBO, which is a Russian-based martial art, is an acronym for SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya, or self-defense without a weapon. In 1993, he represented the United States at the World University Games in Buffalo, NY in an exhibition competition against the Russian Cambo team. Since then, Mr. Kirk has trained in various arts including Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, American Karate, Aikido, and Isshinryu Karate, earning his 2nd Degree Black Belt In American Karate/ Tae Kwon Do in May, 2017. He enjoys the mental and spiritual development aspects of martial arts, as well as pure self-defense applications. He works as a Senior Engineering Project Manager for the City of Charleston, managing the very large drainage improvement projects on the peninsula and in West Ashley. In addition to martial arts, he enjoys an active lifestyle including yoga and running, and occasionally finds time to play the piano.
